Board of Review

The mission of the Board of Review is to preserve the integrity of Department programs by providing due process through impartial hearings and timely decisions.
 

What is the Board of Review?

The Board of Review (BOR) is authorized under state law and functions to provide a fair, impartial, and expeditious hearing process to Department of Health, Department of Human Services, and Department of Health Facilities customers and providers who feel themselves aggrieved by agency action.

By affording the right to a hearing, the Board ensures due process of law to individuals who are impacted by department programs including, but not limited to:

  • Adult Protective Services (APS)
  • Aged and Disabled Waiver
  • Certified Nursing Assistants
  • Child Protective Services (CPS)
  • Child Care Eligibility
  • Child Care Providers
  • Foster Care Providers
  • Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) Waiver
  • Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP)
  • Medicaid Eligibility
  • ​Medicaid Appeals from the Federal Marketplace
  • Medical Services
  • School Clothing Allowance
  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Eligibility
  • SNAP Disqualification Hearings
  • Take Me Home, West Virginia Program (Money Follows the Person)
  • Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Waiver
  • Women, Infants and Children
